Old latin phrases pertaining to music?
Are there any well-known Latin phrases that have to do with music (in general)?

- Most terms that I know come from the French or Itallian Languages, and these are considered to be descendants of the Latin language. However the following are quoted as Latin terms from the Glossary of Terms on John Packer's website. A Capella-without music Adlibitum- adlibitum (Lat. "at pleasure") Details of execution left to the discretion of the performer ars nova- Latin term, meaning "new art", used for the new style of fourteen-century French and Italian music cantus firmus-A Latin term, meaning "fixed song", used for a borrowed melody on which composers from the late Middle Ages onwards based polyphonic compositions.
