Generic Phrases

Can you think of some good Latin phrases for a tattoo I'm thinking about getting?

I want to get someting tattooed on my arm in Latin about how I am my own destruction. I got the idea from Angelina Jolie's tattoo that says what nourishes me destroys me, but I don't want that exact phrase.

  1. I got "Non Serviam" tatted on my back. It means "I will not serve"
  2. You need to get a Latin phrase book (from any of the major book stores but you might have to order). Have a good look through and you will be spoilt for choice. One that I particularly like and I can't remember the Latin for is "Life fades, art endures". Don't put anything negative on your body though, keep things pos!! Having said that I have quite a few tats and I love them all (even the bad ones) because they have literally become part of me
  3. ab imo pectore - from the bottom of the heart amor vincit omnia - love conquers all nulli secundus - second to none Scientia est potentia - knowledge is power
  4. Be sure that the tattoo you're making is what the phrase really means. There's a hilarious site on the web that translates bad kanji tattoos. You wouldn't like to end up with a "I drink dog vomit with big dragon" on your body.
  5. i searched for a phrase similar to this and could not find anything. If a where you i would think of a phrase of your own that relates to you personally as its your tatoo and get a latin expert to convert it. It could be "I am my own destruction"
  6. Sapere aude - Dare to be wise And this, although it's not Latin, but a classical French one: il faut souffrir pour ĂȘtre belle - It's necessary to suffer in order to be beautiful! Bit long perhaps!
