Are these prepositional phrases? 1. (Having completed the beginning), we will turn to the ending, the next most important part of the essay. 2. Please place those boxes (behind my desk).

  1. number 2 is, but number one is a participle phrase.
  2. # 2 is a prep phrase.
  3. The people who've replied are correct. The reason is that there's no preposition in the first sentence. Other prepositional phrases: After completing the beginning.... Hannibal is *at the gates* Before you go..... After, at, before, behind are all prepositions.
  4. in number 2, "behind my desk" is a prepositional phrase.
