Generic Phrases

I'm trying to write thank you notes for family in Spanish. My spanish sucks. Help?

I went to south america and visited long lost family. Had a great time and now I want to send back some thank you cards. I don't want to sound generic with just 'Gracias'...trying to find translation for phrases like "Thank you for your hospitality" "I had a great time, I appreciated your courtesy"...etc. I can say this stuff, but my written spanish blows. I always end up translating something the wrong way or not getting my grammar quite right. Any help from native spanish speakers (or those who have a way with Spanish) would be much appreciated.
