  1. where is the bathroom? what time is it? what day is it? where is my room? how much money? can i see it? pretty much that. there is more, but less important.
  2. One of the easiest ways to start to learn a language practically is to get hold of a phrase book from any book shop. You can then use things that might be of use to you should you decide to visit France. Imagine you were going there for the weekend. What would be useful? At the hotel, at the restaurant, menus and so on. Each of is different but it isn't difficult to work out what we might need , if we think about it for a moment. It is easiest if we do it with a friend so that we can practice by asking each other questions. Who knows? after a short while you might decide that you were good enough to go on a short visit!
  3. Wow big question! Ok well you can start with Bonjour = Hello Bon soir = good evening Bon nuit = good night Merci = thank you Au revoir = goodbye S'il vous plait = please In a shop or restaurant you may need... Je voudrais... = I would like... Donnez-moi... = Give me... C'est tout = that's all L'addition = the bill If you're lost... Parlez-vous anglais? = do you speak english? Ou est/sont... = where is/are... (e.g. ou sont les toilettes?) Je cherche... = I'm looking for... I'm not sure how much more you want? That seems enough for the bare minimal
  4. Je voudrais une croissant et du fromage. le français est une langue tres belle.
  5. where is the bathroom: où sont les toilettes? what time is it : quelle heure est-il ? how much does it cost ? : combien ça coute ? can i see it : je peux le voir ? I am sick : je suis malade where is the bathroom : où sont les toilettes? Please : s'il vous plaît Thank you : merci Where is the "//////" street ? : où se trouve la rue"/////"? I am thirsty : j'ai soif I am hungry : j'ai faim I am lost : je suis perdu(e) Help me : aidez moi Bye : au revoir It's a non stopping list... If you have something special in mind ask me!
  6. Tapes from the library will help you with pronunciation, which is important because French is certainly not pronounced the way it looks. You can listen to them in the car. Community college night classes are helpful and fun because you are all beginners together, and will give you the conversational help you'll need. There are PBS classes on TV, too. You can tape them if they come on when you're away from home. Maybe someday you'll go to France and have a chance to try out your phrases. (I finally made it when I was in my fifties.) Best of luck to you.
  7. I will add some things, .... Je cherche un poste de police. [I'm looking for the police] Je cherche une station de métro.[I'm looking for the subway] Paris est magnifique.[Paris is wonderful] Je cherche des restaurants qui proposent de la cuisine française.[I'm looking for French-cuisine restaurants] and also ANPE, Ambassade [Embassy] , Consulat [Consulate], Mairie [Town Hall], Port [Harbour], Football [Soccer], Sarkozy [Does that help?], huhhh anything else? Hope that helps !! ;)
