French Phrases?

I'm going to France and Spain in the Spring and I was wondering if anyone had some phrases that arn't as formal as the ones in the books or ones that are more like what people actually say. What i mean is that in French phrase books the phrases are really formal, and not what the people of France actually say. I was just wondering what would be some realistic French phrases i could use while in France

  1. ....bon jour??? I don't know french very good, but in spanish i can tell u: Buenos días, ¿cómo te va?? ¿qué tal, cómo se la están pasando? ¡¡Gilipollas!!....etc...actually, i didn't understand ur question.
  2. One phrase that they would not understand is "Where is the soap?"
  3. Well, it's often better to stick to formal phrases. I mean, you won't get confused then, and you can use them all the time. For instance, if you want to say "Salut", which is "Hi", well, people only use it when they know each other, or among young people who have been introduced. Same for a lot of sentences. If you meet some people there, and start hanging out with them, it will be easy to pick up sentences then. Have fun this spring!
