What are some phrases from other countries to use in replace of common American phrases?
I am an American and I get so tired of blokes my age always using words like "oh my God," "cool" and "like" in every bloody sentence! I would much rather use words from countries like the U.K. and Australia. What are some phrases from other countries to use in place of common American words/phrases? e.g. using the Australian word "mate" instead of America's "dude" Best answer given to whoever lists the most words/phrases! Please also include the term(s) Australia and the U.K. uses instead of the American terms "oh my God" and "cool." Thank you very much!

- I'm learning dutch: Vriendens ore hier flur dit neit.- Friends are here for you when they always are. Whatever you want to learn is fine. If you pick one language you want to learn it will help you more in life.
- Okay, please bear with me, I'm American but I am totally with you on this... please use the following terms/phrases whenever possible from now on.... mum should always be used instead of mom me=my (e.g. me mum stole me iPod) Would you fancy a drink this afternoon in my flat? Shall you take holiday this week, Mrs. Campbell? Avoid using "awesome," instead use bloody marvelous mate should always be used instead of friend maths should always be used instead of "math" bum should always be used instead of arse or buttocks wanker should be used to disparage anyone at all, anyone Do not say something is brilliant if it's only clever. When asked where you're from, reply with either, "Manchester" or "Brisbaine" Oh, and whatever you do, remember that "football" is soccer. American football is something not to be discussed under any circumstances, fair enough? If you follow these basic guidelines, you will be well on your way to being excellent.
- Instead of "Oh my God!", use "Crikey!", or if you want to be really exotic, you could use the Mandarin "Ai-yo!" (sounds like "eye oh"). Instead of "Cool", how about the British "Brill!" (short for "brilliant")? Or again, a bit of Chinese, try using "Hao ku!" (sounds like "how coo") rather than "Cool". Go on! Show those rotters how li-hai you really are!
